Our Story
We are a friendly local trout farm located west of Smithfield, Utah. Here you will find spring fed ponds and raceways stocked with a wide assortment of trout including Rainbow, Brook, Brown, Tiger, Splake (a combination of Lake and Brook) and Blue Rainbow. Bring your poles and your buddies because the fish are always biting. No license necessary. We will also clean and fillet them for you or you can do it yourself. When you come, be sure to enjoy our shady pavilion and indoor tennis court too!
Raising trout has been in our family since 1924. Owner and operator Leland Barker grew up on Cold Springs Trout Farm in Ogden where he honed his skills at balancing the ideal aquatic environment with the correct food and care for fish. Ready to put his knowledge to work for himself, Leland moved to beautiful Northern Cache Valley twenty plus years ago where he put his trade into practice on his own piece of paradise, the Mountain Valley Trout Farm.
Today, at Mountain Valley Trout Farm, Rainbow is our main focus, but we also raise Brook, Brown, Tiger, and Blue Rainbows. We feature the Tiger Trout, a cross between a Brook and a Brown Trout, and, our Blue Rainbow, a unique and beautiful fish. We sell to local Restaurants, as well as wholesalers, and have a catch-out pond on our farm. We offer catch-and release for trophy Trout and Bass too. Take a look at our facilities and pricing.
We have 45 years experience filleting fish and offer boneless red fillets to restaurants, as well as white meat, if preferred. We are here to meet your needs. Whether that means directing you to the fish where you will do your own thing, guiding you through the process, or just providing freshly filleted fish, we are happy to help.
In addition to our fully stocked trout farm, we also have a lovely pavilion for your special events as well as a full size indoor tennis court available for rental.
